THE “SCIENTISTS” ARE NOT DOING SCIENCE; THEY ARE SPECULATING … AGAIN

The irony of ironies is that the American “scientific” community does not possess the predisposition to learn from their own mistakes. A familiar definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. The “science” clergymen are about to burn themselves … again. Are they mad?

The “scientists” are playing with fire by leaking their speculations to the newsmen. It would be a wonder if they escape with only second degree burns. First of all, the global warming hoax has not yet cooled and yet the men of “science” are once more stoking coals of humiliation that it might blaze anew. “Scientists” are aglow in what may be a repeat of embarrassment for those men who earn their pay as science speculators: the makings of a dramatic possible, potential, prospective, probably-will-happen-if-we-keep-our-fingers-crossed Dark Matter breakthrough

It takes faith to believe in Dark Matter

Dark Matter is imaginary substance whose presence can be surmised from the gravitational effect it has on the visible matter that we do see. The theorists working on this project are fascinated by the possibilities and thrilled by the promises that they may have detected what was once known as non-detectable energy. Over the course of this year (2009), two pulses have given the “science” community reason to be optimistic that their 75-year search will bear fruit. Now they believe their innumerous hypotheses will no longer be back-page news.

Sadly, the only established fact that exists in this so-called breakthrough is that the “scientists” have discovered a couple of pulses over the course of a year. The Hopeful believe these pulses might have been due to dark matter; however, there is a one in four chance, they mention parenthetically, that the pulses were actually caused by background radioactivity in and around their detector. CYA.

Theories built upon theories.

The clergy of Scientism who conceive these philosophies are called “brave” by their followers.  I would call them courageous, too, in the same way some consider Benny Hinn heroic. A commentator writing about the Cold Dark Matter Search (CDMS) announcement said that “…for the theorist working at his desk alone at night, it seems almost unfathomable that nature might actually obey the delicate theories you develop on pieces of paper. This is especially true when the theories involve ideas from so many different areas of science and require leaps of imagination.”

Does this sound like good science to you?

Throughout this article I put the words scientist and scientific in quotes because that what often poses as science today is different from the real thing. The problem with this is not that they are wrong to defend their Dark Matter premise, but that they mistake Dark Matter, a scientific theory, for a belief system. When you no longer engage in systematic knowledge-base or prescriptive practice that is capable of resulting in a predictable outcome, you are no longer doing science but something that has the form, if not the substance, of a belief system. It is religion.

Scientism is America’s latest religious fad. It is no coincidence that two prominent religious cults, Scientology and the Christian Science Movement, use the term too.

Interesting is it not?  Dark Matter “scientists” believe in the existence of invisible matter yet do not believe in an invisible God. The Dark Matter “scientists” are men of great faith.  But they have a misguided faith. The Scriptures tell us that

… Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together [i].

Adrian Rogers noted that “…some people can’t find Jesus for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.”  Men search for Dark Matter but do not search for God.
