The Jehovah’s Witnesses like to think of themselves as witnesses of Jehovah God. I want to know why they do not think of themselves as the Father’s Witnesses?
Firstly, Russellites freely admit that they have mispronounced their namesake. It is universally believed that “Jehovah” is an anglicanized articulation of יהוה, the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible. There is no “J” sound in this word, or anywhere in the Hebrew alphabet. Despite the obvious irony, the Jehovah’s Witnesses go about willingly mispronouncing God’s name as if no one would notice.
What if you read about someone whose name is Thomas, but you call him Tommy. You finally meet this Thomas, who corrects you, saying “I prefer to be called ‘Thomas.’” Do you continually disrespect him by using a more convenient moniker? I here go off the point but will save this topic for another discussion.
Christians are the true witnesses of יהוה; the Russellites are not. Not only are Christians genuine witnesses of יהוה, but we are His children. God is our loving and compassionate heavenly Father. How?
When Jesus spoke of His Father in heaven, He was speaking of His own unique relationship as the eternal Son of God. He taught His disciples to pray to God, addressing Him as “Father.” Christians, who are born of the Spirit, saved through Jesus Christ our Lord, are the Father’s adopted sons. We are united to Christ as His Body and therefore we are in Christ, Christ is in us, we are like Christ, and we are with Christ. Because Christians are in union with Christ in these relationships, we are also in the Father. The Father is in the Christians. We have a unique fellowship with the Father and with the Holy Spirit that the Russellites cannot possibly attain. Why? Because Jesus, God the Son, is in the Father and the Father is in Him:
I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
Jesus came to make the Father’s name known to His people:
I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
Jehovah’s Witnesses (Russellites) do not call themselves “Father’s Witnesses.” They cannot know the Father because they are not in Christ. The Russellites have tried to enter the door of salvation by some way other than the Good Shepherd. These Russellites are thieves and robbers of the true faith. They do not call themselves the Father’s Witnesses because they do not know The Father. Conversely, Christians are truly God’s people, called by His name. We are united in Christ, in the Father, and in the Holy Spirit.
Following the teaching of the Russellites will only lead you down the road to destruction. Following the Living Lord Jesus leads to Life. How? He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life!
