I am merely a former beggar who wants to show other hungry beggars where the feast is. Some people may not be hungry for this kind of food. Others may taste and decide that they want no more. It is heartbreaking that some of these may never be able to find the banquet table again.
As one who has personally experienced a new birth through Jesus Christ, receiving God’s mercy beyond measure, I feel obligated to share the way to life with those who have not yet met the One who has conquered death. If a man feels he has no desire to know the Author of Life, or that he prefers to carry the heavy burden of sin on his own, or even if he has no interest in looking beyond the religious tradition in which he was raised, read no further. What I have to say will not make sense to you.
Let me say without hesitation that Muslims are following the wrong religious leader. Their man who claimed to know the way to life is dead. Instead of following the teachings of a lifeless corpse the people of Islam should turn their attention to the Living Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Messiah, and this magnificent title is recognized by both Christians and Muslims alike. Following Jesus is what serious men who are serious about God are required to do.
Not only is the Lord Jesus Christ alive, He is active in the lives of His people. What religious leader is like Him? Listen to the conversations that Spirit-filled Christians have with each other. They trade stories that the Lord is doing such-and-such in their lives, changing them into His likeness. They speak of Jesus as if His life were flowing through their veins. Christ not only speaks to His people through the Scriptures and through the preaching of His word, but His actual life is joined in some mysterious way to His people. Christians can describe in great detail how Jesus is personally moving about in their daily activites, encouraging them through times of distress or blessing. It is as if Jesus were standing by a Christian’s side as his closest Friend. Surely, no one has heard a Muslim say, “Let me tell you what Muhammad is doing in my life.”
Jesus is the King of kings; Muhammad is not.
Jesus is Lord; Muhammad is not.
Jesus is the Word of God; Muhammad is not.
Jesus is coming back to judge the living and the dead; Muhammad is not.
All Muslims agree that Jesus is alive and Muhammad is dead.
The world is in harmony, including Muslims, on at least one fact: Muhammad is gone. He cannot move or influence anyone, and all that is left of him are bones and dust. He cannot give life to others; therefore he is a not an authority we can trust to show us the way to life. His corpse has been imprisoned for nearly fourteen centuries, and there it will remain until the Lord Jesus Christ commands him to leave the grave. At such time the dead prophet of Islam will give an account for his sins.
All of Muhammad’s followers will track him to the grave, experiencing an identical fate; they too will be raised by the Messiah on the Last Day and face judgment for every wicked thought, evil deed, and careless word ever uttered. What’s worse, they all will be guilty of the most hideous crime that ever was: rejecting the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
It does not have to be this way. A man can turn to the Living Lord, whose life He will share with all who come to Him. One of the Lord’s disciples, a man who walked with Him and was taught by Him, recorded Jesus saying these words:
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.
Christians and Muslims, and perhaps others too, agree that Jesus Christ is very much alive, not dead as is the case with all other religious leaders. But the life Jesus has is like no other life. It originates from Himself: “… For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself …” and “ … I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh …” Jesus possesses a unique, better existence that cannot be compared to the one which Muhammad promised. As we all know, Muhammad did not make good on his promises, for he himself is dead and cannot help anyone.
But if Jesus is alive where is He? He rules as King at the right hand of His Father in heaven. For now He rules the hearts and minds of His people. Yet, one day He will return to earth physically to judge both the living and the dead, a fact attested by Muhammad himself. Even though the Muslim prophet knew that Jesus was the Supreme Judge, sadly Muhammad never accepted the offer of eternal life. Therefore Muhammad has no sin-bearer except himself. Now, unfortunately, Muhammad must bear his sin alone. It is a debt he can never repay.
CONCLUSION: Tell me, what need do I have of a dead prophet? I know a Living One who is Lord and Redeemer of His people. Joseph Smith is not the Savior or the world. Muhammad is not Lord of lords. What could Muhammad, Joseph Smith, or Bahá’u’lláh do for me that Jesus hasn’t already accomplished?
Sinners need a sin-bearer. God has indeed sent one: He is the sinless Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He conquered death and rose to a glorious life that He freely shares with those who believe in Him. His followers live because Jesus lives. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Do not delay in being wise. The Day of Judgment is near. What would be in opposition of God’s will for you, and, morever, an insult to His generous offer of forgiveness, is an attempt to pay for your many sins through your own efforts. You will fail.
