RACKDEBT, ACT 5, SCENE 5, LINES 17-28

By Phil Campbell, Phoenix, Arizona

  ***

America's National Debt is a "tragedie" of the first magnitude

We surely tried to matter,

We could not earn a dime for doing good.

To borrow, and to borrow, and to borrow,

“Creeps” in this petty place do day to day,

Screw the last imbecile with our sordid crime;

So small your interest pays you blighted tools

The wake of trusty debt. Clout, clout, thief “can do!”

Lies buy a mocking handout, a whore monger

That gluts and sets this horror upon the age

Intending for still more. It is a “veil”

Sold by us bureaucrats, fools for Bonds and Duty

Monetizing “nothing.”
