In December 1993 Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen debated atheist lawyer Mr. Edward “Eddie” Tabash.  As far as I know this video is not available elsewhere on the internet (although there are poor audio recordings on You Tube).

I will be posting the entire debate in segments on my blog.  If you wish to purchase the full-length version, please contact Covenant Media Foundation.

In this episode Dr. Bahnsen makes his opening statement. Here are highlights:

  • The atheists live inconsistent lives
  • Atheists will presuppose human dignity by attending a friend’s funeral then later affirm that human life is no different than an animal
  • Atheists are primitive in their thinking
  • Atheists do not have a workable worldview
  • Evolutionists have an irrational worldview that life spontaneously erupted
  • Atheists are unable to answer the tough questions of philosophy
  • Atheists work hard to hide their intellectual poverty from themselves and others

I thoroughly enjoyed this debate some years ago when I watched the video

    Great video!

I don’t think this is his opening statement. He refers early on to “what I said earlier in my opening statement.”

Thanks for the video. May I make a suggestion regarding your blog? Turn off the titles in ALL CAPS, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE SHOUTING.

Benjamin is correct; this isn’t the opening statement. It’s awesome though! Thanks!

Dr. Bahnsen’s focus on the Inductive Principle makes this debate (or would-be debate :)) my favorite.

I do not understand “how” or for that matter “why” any atheist would try to reason or debate anything with true purpose.

As a “former skeptic” I now believe that GOD is real. Atheists claim there is no GOD; yet spend a lifetime trying to prove there claim. I dont spend a lifetime trying disprove the existence of leprechauns or reindeer or the tooth fairy. The fact is the existence of GOD or Supreme Being who is responsible for all forms of life on earth can not be proven by anyone .As I forestated I was a skeptic. But my belief in GOD is not because I proved it to myself or anyone else that GOD is real. MY BELIEF IN GOD IS BASED ON THE FACT THAT GOD PROVED HIMSELF TO ME! GOD WILL PROVE HIMSELF TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW HIM.

Well said! God will reveal Himself to whoever he is well pleased. He is God!
