I THINK VOTERS DECIDED TO GIVE THE DEMOCRATS A TWO-YEAR CHANCE TO FIX THE ECONOMY. INSTEAD OBAMA THOUGHT THEY HAD TWO YEARS TO RADICALLY TRANSFORM THE COUNTRY IN WAYS THAT VOTERS DIDN’T WANT

President Obama promised not to raise taxes on people earning less than $200,000 per year and vowed not to increase the national debt “by one nickel.” He promised that his nearly-trillion-dollar stimulus plan would keep the unemployment rate below 8%.  In January 2008, then-candidate Obama promised not to negotiate behind closed doors with health care lobbyists. In fact, he committed to “broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are. Because part of what we have to do is enlist the American people in this process.  But several news outlets reported that aides to President Obama and Democrat Senator Max Baucus met with corporate lobbyists in April 2009 to help “set in motion a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, primarily financed by industry groups, that has played a key role in bolstering public support for health care reform.”  After his election, President Obama said, “Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.” And we all watched with horror as senate democrats met behind closed doors determining our socialized health care fate.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president. (from a friend who claims this came from the Czech Republic. Wherever the source, it’s sadly true.)
