God’s mercy is on display when He chooses certain individuals to receive eternal life. Why should He choose any sinners at all among a corrupt human race?
Not all of Abraham’s children are Children of Promise. Not even all of Isaac’s children are Children of Promise. God chooses Children of Promise from those not yet born, and He is choosing in our own day

Middle Knowledge teaches that God depends on the creature. He could not decree or dispose anything, unless a determination of the human will were made known to Him.
